SELF GUIDED TOURS

Tour Seven

Four Corners
8 riding days and 9 nights lodging
1830 miles

We designed this trip to give you a little bit of everything from Southwest deserts to several 10,000 foot high mountain passes. After your first night at the Salt Lake Hilton you will pass through the beautiful mountains and red rock spaces of Southern Utah. Your first night stops in Torrey, the motorcycle crossroads of the Southwest and we recommend dinner at a favorite restaurant of ours operated by a chef and friend who has received a Fodor's Choice 2008 award. From there you gas up and grab a box lunch (no services for quite a while) and explore Capitol Reef National Park, Natural Bridges National Monument and stay the night in Bluff, Utah where you can treat you to one of the better steak dinners in the Southwest.

The next day you take a tour through Monument Valley and then head over into Colorado for a two night stay in the town of Durango. The lay-over day will allow you to explore Mesa Verde National Park which has the most incredible Native American ruins in the country.  The park service has restored several of the dwellings that once housed thousands of people and you will be able to take guided and self guided tours of these spectacular ruins.

From Durango you head up into the high mountains of Colorado over some of the highest passes in the country and end up in Gunnison, Colorado for the evening.

The next day is one of extremes. You will go to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park that is one of the deepest canyons in the country. That afternoon, you will travel up to the Grand Mesa National Scenic and Historic Byway which is the largest flat-top mountain in the world. Then, down through the wine country of Colorado for an overnight stay in Grand Junction.

From there you follow the Colorado River into Moab, Utah and take the opportunity to visit Canyonlands or Arches National Park for some of the finest scenery in the country. Your last night on the road will be at an outstanding resort on the Colorado River where you will be able to sample their locally made wines. The last day’s ride back to Salt Lake City treats you to more incredible red rock and high Utah Mountains. Five National Parks, two National Monuments, and 1900 miles. Nice ride…
